A contemporary piece of furniture ideal to compliment any living space, 和木相处 [He Mu Xiang Chu] takes inspiration from the harmonious mood within the Red Hill estate of Singapore.
The side table was completed as a personal visual representation of the neighbourhood. Comprising of abandoned raw materials such as bed frame planks, clothes bamboo hangers and white tiles, these materials are given new life in the form of an everyday furniture in hopes of conveying the harmony and warmth of the people in the estate. It takes form in a short stack, with various mediums overlapping each other, akin to the sights observed during a month-long recce around the area.
This project was done in collaboration with Francesca Fernandez, Lasalle College of the Arts.
