As a mini series to be posted in the month of October for Halloween, our challenge was to contextualise a Western holiday into local context whilst keeping the content educational and fun.

What better way to celebrate Halloween than with our very own local scary stories? Through research and some reading on Roots, we found fun facts and information regarding 3 unique stories that told the myths and legends of old Singapore. These stories are Pontianak, Haw Par Villa, and the tale of Fort Canning.

Through personifying 1 character from each story, we were able to narrate each tale from the story’s perspective, giving each video a unique twist. We worked with a local illustrator to visualise the story in their eyes through their illustration style, and proceeded to animate and voice over each story in-house.
