City of (H)Ours

Habitants of a city have different backgrounds and different societal responsibilities. City of (H)Ours is an exhibition piece modelled after types of situations that various city dwellers face on a day-to-day basis. Due to the different pressures they face, the way their time is spent daily may vary. Represented with warped silhouettes of the hourglass, each piece is modified to allow the same amount of sand to diverge into various shapes and paths to convey a clear message of how time is managed and spent by each individual.

From left to right:

Avalanche; Overloaded urban atmosphere and the constant fight against time.

Inverse; Oddities of time in the city.

Divergence; Multitasking nature of urban dwellers, with attention being divided all the time.

Bottleneck; Congestion of time, spending time everyday in a strain and struggle.

Humdrum; Repetitions and monotonous routines of city life.
