Event branding (2019) | The Lo & Behold Group, Straits Clain
01 The Brief
The creative brief given by Ppurpose was to create an event branding for Straits Clan’s 2019 Halloween party. The foundation of the theme was musical legends, with the title ‘Hotel Clanifornia’, a name play on Eagles’ hit song Hotel California and Straits Clan.
02 Ideation
Narrowing the direction and theme, the overall focus is put on 80’s Rock & Roll, picking out iconic elements such as grunge, skulls, and overall edge that added to the Halloween ambience. With these keywords in mind, the visual elements were identified with 3 anchors: Grunge – through the use of textures and skulls; Mysterious and edgy – monochromes and collages; Pop of colour – accent colours for a burst of energy.
03 Conceptualisation
The final event branding focused mainly on a monochrome collage of iconic dead musical legends David Bowie & Freddie Mercury, framed with musical elements such as electric guitars and drumsticks along with a half floral wreath for a subtle shrine and worship element. The Hotel California neon sign is also adapted as the logotype, and digital elements are brought to live with a blinking animation.
The interior space is also decorated with the main shrine concept in mind, to add to a worship and celebratory mood. Spiced up with floral elements and guests filling the space in their favourite celebrity costumes, the event night was reminiscent of the 80’s with legendary rock and roll songs playing over the laughters of the guests.
